The 1st SaltGiant Short Course will be held in Utrecht (Netherlands) from October 7th to 10th 2019. This event is open to the participation of external PhDs or Early Stage Researchers from any country !
The results of the applications received will be sent by email by the end of August.

Goals: Provide insigh into the philiosophy, methods, and applications of numerical and analogue modelling in the Earth Sciences.

- Monday October 7: Introduction / Start analague exp. / box modelling
- Tuesday October 8: Geochemistry / visit of Utrecht labs
- Wednesday October 9: Tectonics, backstripping / “Bike tour”
- Thursday October 10: overpressure / analogue exp.
Trainers: Paul Meijer (University of Utrecht), Giovanni Aloisi (IPGP, Paris), Hector Marin Moreno (NOC, United Kingdom), Hanneke Heida (CSIC) and Ronja Ebner (University of Utrecht)
Participation: The school is organized with the Marie Skłodowska-Curie ETN SALTGIANT, which will provide up to 15 participants from the Early Stage researchers enrolled in the SALTGIANT PhD programs. SaltGiant will support the participation of up to 5 additional trainees with a fixed grant to cover the travel, accommodation, and subsistence costs.
Target Trainees: PhD Students and Early Stage Researchers ie students who just started their PhD or got their Master degree since no longer than 4 years. Candidates can be of any age and nationality and must be able to speak and understand English (language of the lectures).
The selection committee will take a special care to select candidates -gender- and nationality balanced.
